Ukrainian Railways recorded a significant increase in iron ore carriage to Poland

Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Trade Department of Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ), announced that the number of iron ore wagons increased by 43.6% in March compared to January, reaching 210 units per day.

This growth continues the positive dynamics observed since the beginning of this year. In January, 126 wagons carrying iron ore were delivered per day, in February - 146.3 (+16.1% month-on-month) and in March - 210 (+43.5% month-on-month). Since the beginning of the year, this indicator has grown by 66.7%.

However, in contrast to the growth in iron ore shipments, there was a decline in the other main product groups transported through this border crossing. Coal imports decreased by 46 cars per day, container transshipment by about 15 cars per day and grain cargo transport by 8.5 cars per day.

Ukrzaliznytsi also reported a significant increase in the transport of iron and manganese ore in February 2024, which increased by 11.3% compared to the previous month to 3.33 million tonnes. This figure increased 2.5 times compared to February 2023. The company delivered 2.067 million tonnes of raw materials to sea ports, accounting for 62.1% of iron ore exports. Road transport delivered 1.262 million tonnes (37.9%).
