Listing Turkey's largest industrial enterprises, ISO includes 9 companies in the top 500 and 8 companies from Hatay in the second 500. One of the top 15 provinces in terms of Gross Domestic Product size, Hatay's economy is dominated by industry, trade, agriculture, transportation and construction, especially iron and steel. 90 Percent of the province's income from production is provided by factories in the Iskenderun region. The iron and steel sector in Iskenderun realized half of Hatay's $4 billion exports in 2022.

The biggest problem of factories at the moment is qualified manpower. Due to the destruction experienced in the region, the trained manpower had to migrate. It will take time for the factories to recover their strength.

Iskenderun is the export gate of the region

The nearby provinces also have a share in the exports made from Hatay, which is an important foreign trade center with the ports and customs gates of the region. The city, which connects its commercial centers and has a strategic location, is an important transit point for international freight transportation. For this reason, Turkey's second largest truck fleet after Istanbul is located in Hatay.
