Minister of Commerce Bolat: Türkiye has exceeded 1 billion dollars of daily exports, the target is 1.5-2 billion dollars

In his speech, Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat explained that exports, which are the driving force behind growth, have reached a record level. Bolat said, "In 2002, we as a company had 32 thousand exporters. This number increased to 140 thousand in 2023. In 2023, 39 thousand of our companies exported for the first time and their exports amounted to 6.6 billion dollars. In 2023, we exported to 240 countries and customs territories in the region.

"The number of products we produced and exported is 12,886, and we achieved the highest exports in history to 70 of these countries," he said. "We were happy that we exceeded 1 billion dollars a year in 1973 and 1 billion dollars a month in 1987," Bolat said, adding, "Now we are experiencing the joy of exceeding 1 billion dollars a day, but this is not enough; we will also reach the days when we can export 1.5-2 billion dollars a day.

Yesterday, the export figure of 1 billion 66 million dollars came. The number of chapters in which you exported more than 1 billion dollars increased to 54 last year, the highest export in history was made in 39 of them, and more than 1 billion dollars were exported to 49 countries. "All 30 of our provinces achieved export success of over 1 billion dollars," he said.

The burden of the February 6 earthquake on the budget is 104 billion dollars

Minister Bolat reminded that 11 provinces experienced great destruction in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that occurred on February 6 last year, and said that a budget burden of 104 billion dollars was carried to remove this destruction and rebuild the cities.

Pointing out that the Turkish economy grew at an average annual rate of 5.4 percent in real terms between 2002 and 2022, Bolat said, "After growing 11.4 percent in 2021, the highest growth rate of the last 50 years, and 5.5 percent in 2022, we will reach the first 9 percent of 2023." "We closed the month with a real growth of 4.7 percent. What is remarkable here is our third quarter growth. With this growth rate, we ranked second after India among the G20 countries," he said.

The target in trade with the EU is 267 billion dollars

Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat stated that the export situation of the United States and Turkey is good and said, “There is a slight decrease in our exports, but we maintain our position.

There is no decline in our trade with the EU. "Our trade with Europe increased to 210 billion dollars," he said. Stating that they have achieved a 7-fold increase in the last 21 years with exports of 255.8 billion dollars, Bolat said, “Our 2024 target is 267 billion dollars.

"So we need to achieve an increase of approximately 4 to 5 percent," he said. Sharing the information that the foreign trade deficit decreased to 106 billion dollars in goods trade, Minister Bolat said, “We had savings of 4 billion dollars. But we have a surplus of 49 billion dollars in services trade. "In this way, the decline in the current account balance began," he said.

The share of manufacturing in exports is 94.2 percent

Bolat pointed out that the structure of exports has changed over the years and said that in 2023, manufacturing industry exports will have a 94.2 percent share of total exports, with 241 billion dollars.

Noting that they have focused on increasing production capacity and quality and increasing value-added exports based on R&D and innovation since the date they took office, Bolat said that the share of medium-high and high-technology products in exports will increase from 30.4 percent in 2002 to 40.3 percent in 2023. Bolat stated that they increased the capital of Türk Eximbank by 40 percent in order to expand exporters' access to financing and increased the export rediscount credit limit through joint efforts. Sharing the details of the steps they have taken to increase exports, Bolat said that they will increase the activities within the scope of their "Export Development to Distant Countries and Islamic Countries" strategies in 2024, and that they will improve trade with the Turkic world states and Africa with their share in traditional western markets.
