In the latest update for June 2023, Iran successfully maintained its seventh position in the global steel production rankings. However, the subsequent month of July witnessed a significant downturn, resulting in a three-step drop to the tenth position. As of the most recent data for August and September, Iran continues to hold the tenth spot. The fluctuating rankings highlight, Turkey has now claimed the eighth position, Germany in ninth place, and Brazil securing the tenth spot.

Iran's steel production has experienced a notable upswing, allowing the nation to climb back to the coveted seventh spot in global steel manufacturing. Admidst the dynamic steel production landscape in Arab countries,

Egypt took the lead in October 2023, producing a substantial 1.025 million tonnes. This marked a noteworthy 14.7% surge in comparison to previous figures, positioning Egypt at the forefront of Arab steel production.

Saudi Arabia Secures Second Place with Strong Growth

Following closely behind, Saudi Arabia demonstrated robust performance by producing 861,000 tonnes of steel in the same period. This output reflects an 11.4% increase, cementing Saudi Arabia's role as a significant contributor to the regional steel industry.

Algeria Faces a Decline in Production

In contrast, Algeria experienced a decline in steel production, securing the third spot with 350,000 tonnes, reflecting a 3.0% decrease. Despite this setback, the country remains a significant contributor to the regional steel landscape.

Continental Growth: Africa's Steel Production Up 3.5%

On a broader scale, the entire African continent witnessed positive growth, collectively producing 1.9 million tonnes of steel in October 2023. This represents a notable 3.5% increase from the same period in the previous year, indicating a positive trajectory for steel production across Africa.
