Mexico’s CRC consumption increased by 32.5% in December

CRC consumption in Mexico remained positive for the second month in a row. On a y-o-y basis,  it increased by 32.5% and reached 355,000 tons in December.

Also, the trade flow of CRC in the international market increased by 19.3% amounting to 99,000 tons. At the same time, imports increased by 55.7% and were recorded as 95,000 tons.

On a yearly basis, in 2023, consumption of CRC fell 1.5% to 4.20 million tons, while production fell 11.3% compared to 2022 and recorded as 2.90 million tons.

The total trade flow in 2023 increased by 5.4% to 1.57 million tons, and imports increased by 21.9% to 1.43 million tons, but exports witnessed a downturn by 56.6% to 135,000 tons.

According to Canacero, in 2023, the only producers of CRC in Mexico were Ternium and Tyasa.
