India's crude steel production increased in August

Among the top performers, JSW Steel emerged as the frontrunner, contributing approximately 2.2 million tons of crude steel. This achievement marks a notable year-on-year growth of 16.3%, solidifying JSW Steel's position as a major player in India's steel manufacturing landscape.

Tata Steel Secures Second Place

Tata Steel, another prominent player in the industry, secured the second spot with a production volume of 1.7 million tons. This figure represents an impressive 8.8% increase compared to the previous year.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a longstanding contributor to the country's steel production, closely followed with a production figure of nearly 1.6 million tons.

The data also highlights the diverse methods employed in India's steel production. Approximately 43% of the crude steel was produced using blast furnaces and basic oxygen furnaces, showcasing the importance of traditional methods. Meanwhile, electric arc furnaces and the induction furnace route contributed 23% and 34%, respectively, demonstrating the industry's growing adoption of more modern and efficient production techniques.
