Developed by Turkish engineers! Steel fasteners will be produced in Türkiye!

Developed by Turkish engineers! Steel fasteners will be produced in Türkiye!

The "Production of High-Strength Fasteners for the Defense Industry" project, in which Prof. Dr. Mustafa Taşkın, the project coordinator, Dr. Faculty Member Umut Önen and Dr. Faculty Member Öyküm Başgöz work as researchers, will last 18 months. Within the scope of the project, domestic and national high-quality steel production will be carried out to be used in the defense industry.

Prof. Dr. Taşkın stated that they added alloy elements to the existing steel material in Türkiye and transformed the product they obtained with their own technologies and facilities into a different product by subjecting it to various thermomechanical processes. This new material can be used in the construction of armor, armored personnel carriers, military vehicles, and tanks.

Prof. Dr. Taşkın emphasized that the goal of the project is to put the domestic product on the market in a short period, and stated that domestic and national products will be more competitive in terms of cost than those imported from abroad. This development could serve as an important step toward Türkiye's goal of decreasing its foreign dependence by increasing its domestic production capabilities in the defense industry.
