Yapı Merkezi undertook the 3rd phase works of the railway line stretching from Makutupora to Tabora in Tanzania.

The signing ceremony held at the Tanzania Presidential Office for the Yapı Merkezi Makutupora-Tabora Standard Line Electric Railway (LOT 3) Design and Construction Project was attended by the President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Tanzanian Ambassador to Dar es Salaam Dr. The ceremony was held with the participation of Mehmet Güllüoğlu and Yapı Merkezi İnşaat Deputy Chairman Erdem Arıoğlu.

The project, which is the 3rd phase of the 1,211 km railway that will connect Dar es Salaam and Mwanza when completed, is also of key importance for the Tabora – Kigoma railway line to the Burundi border, which is also included in the investment program of Tanzania Railways (TRC). 

“We contribute to the growth of our country's economy”
Speaking at the signing ceremony of the LOT 3 project, which is approximately 358 km in length alone, Erdem Arıoğlu said: “We are happy to add a new one to the many successful projects we have realized in Africa so far. Our company undertook the construction of the first two parts of the Dar es Salaam-Mwanza Railway, the fastest train line in East Africa, which we are developing in Tanzania, with a length of 705 km, stretching from Dar es Salaam to Makutupora. Tanzania Railways officials were very pleased with the meticulousness and work quality of Yapı Merkezi, that they entrusted us with another part of this very important railway line of the Republic of Tanzania. I would also like to give you the good news that we will sign the 4th phase of 167 km very soon, of which we have signed the 3rd phase of the project. Our greatest happiness is that we will contribute to the strengthening of our economy by providing a serious foreign currency inflow to our country with such a giant project.”

According to the statement, Yapı Merkezi has undertaken all of the construction of a total of 7 stations between the cities of Makutupora and Tabora, the construction of a single-track railway of 358 km, signaling, telecom and electrification, in addition to all infrastructure works in the turnkey single line railway project in Tanzania. . The cost of the project, which is planned to be delivered in 46 months, is 1.9 billion dollars. Signatures will be signed for the 4th phase of the project in the coming days.
